As part of efforts to curtail haulage inefficiencies through technology and stronger industry collaboration, three commercial banks including Access, First and Zenith have forged strategic partnership with HAULMACE 2026.

This decisive step was taken ahead of the 2026 edition of Haulage & Logistic Magazine Annual Conference and Exhibition -HAULMACE, which will bring together Industry stakeholders in Lagos.

The conference targeted at exploring how technology and stronger industry collaboration can reduce operational inefficiencies, cut costs and improve profitability in Nigeria’s haulage and logistics sector.

Organised by Haulage & Logistics Magazine, the event will hold at The Stable Event Center, 45 Bode Thomas Street, Surulere, Lagos, under the theme, “Technology as an Enabler for More Efficient Haulage Operations: The Need for Industry Collaboration.” Attendance at the event is free for all stakeholders.

The conference will bring together haulage operators, fleet owners, manufacturers, logistics companies, technology providers, financial institutions, regulators and other stakeholders to discuss practical solutions to challenges affecting the movement of goods and the performance of transport businesses.

The keynote address will be delivered by Jean-Claude Homawoo, co-founder and chief executive officer of Lori Systems, whose work in logistics technology aligns with the event’s focus on digital solutions for more efficient transportation operations.

The programme will also feature a panel discussion involving Anuoluwapo Agboola, chief operating officer of Dukeridges; Omotunde Adunbi Ogunbowale, chief executive officer of Tripple A Logistics; and Oluwafemi Oladokun, managing director of Trucksoft Logistics – Telematics Services.

The panellists are expected to share insights into the realities of haulage operations in Nigeria and examine opportunities for addressing industry challenges through technology adoption, improved coordination and strategic partnerships.

Speaking on the rationale behind the theme, the Convener of HAULMACE, Mr Alfred Okugbeni, said the industry needed to embrace technology and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders to address persistent operational challenges.

According to Okugbeni, issues such as empty return trips, rising operating costs, underutilised trucking assets and inadequate coordination between cargo owners and transport operators continue to affect the efficiency and profitability of haulage businesses.

He explained that closer cooperation among manufacturers, cargo owners, logistics providers, haulage operators and technology companies could help develop practical solutions to these challenges while improving the performance of the wider supply chain.

The convener explained that empty return trips, whereby trucks complete deliveries but return without securing cargo for the journey back, result in lost revenue, wasted vehicle capacity and additional operating expenses for transport operators.

According to Okugbeni, technology-driven solutions, including digital freight-matching platforms, data sharing and improved fleet management systems, offer opportunities to connect available trucks with cargo owners and minimise unproductive journeys.

He said the conference would provide a platform for stakeholders to examine how such solutions could improve vehicle utilisation, reduce operating costs, maximise revenue and make haulage operations more commercially sustainable.

Okugbeni said HAULMACE 2026 would also provide an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas, share industry experiences, showcase innovations and establish business relationships that could support growth across the haulage and logistics value chain.

The exhibition component will enable participating organisations to showcase relevant products and services, while the conference sessions will encourage discussions on practical approaches to improving efficiency and responding to changing industry demands.

Participants at the event will have opportunities to network with industry professionals, explore potential business partnerships and gain insights into emerging technologies and approaches to haulage and supply chain management.

HAULMACE has been organised annually since 2015 by Haulage & Logistics Magazine, a publication serving Nigeria’s haulage, logistics and transportation industry, to promote industry dialogue, knowledge sharing and business networking while addressing developments and challenges within Nigeria’s transportation and logistics sectors.
