President Tinubu Flags Off Gateway International Airport, Other Infrastructure Projects in Ogun

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has flagged off the Gateway International Airport and other Infrastructure projects in Iperu, Ogun State, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructure development, economic growth, and national connectivity.

Speaking at the event on Saturday, 4 March 2026, the President said the administration’s investments focused on building a resilient economy anchored on innovation, inclusiveness, and sustainable development.

He said despite past challenges, Nigeria is making steady progress towards reclaiming its position as a respected and forward-looking nation, driven by deliberate reforms and cautious management of resources.

The President commended Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for his administration’s dedication towards making the project a success.

“In less than seven years, you have demonstrated commitment, vision, and patriotism to grow Nigeria. We celebrate you for national development. I have no regrets, in whatever formula and whatever we have done with you.

“As your president, I am pleased to see the incredible revenue from Federal allocation being effectively and judiciously used to build our country and regulate the people of this great state. For supporting the government that is delivering measurable progress, and I thank you for your continued faith in our party, the All Progressive Congress Party.” he stated.

According to him, the projects delivered within the past few years reflect strong leadership, patriotism, and a clear vision to grow the economy and improve the standard of living for Nigerians.

“The infrastructure underscores the faith that we have in our country. We believe that today’s foundation is for tomorrow’s prosperity. Thank you all for your understanding,” he said.

The President also underscored the importance of energy and infrastructure development, noting that some of the newly commissioned projects are powered by independent energy solutions, ensuring efficiency and sustainability.

He described the rollout of 1,000 electric bikes as a forward-looking initiative designed to modernise mobility and embrace technology in addressing urban transport challenges.

President Tinubu further reiterated that the deployment of additional vehicles strengthened government’s resolve to tackle insecurity, assuring that efforts to combat banditry and terrorism would be intensified to safeguard lives and property across the country.

He also acknowledged the role of youths in nation-building, describing them as key drivers of innovation and future growth.

The Grand Commander Of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, GCFR, expressed optimism that Nigeria is firmly on the path to greatness, with ongoing reforms and strategic investments positioning the country for long-term prosperity.

While commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his exemplary leadership and contributions to national development, the President noted that the country will not forget Adeniyi’s legacy, particularly his commitment to the welfare of Customs personnel.

“The very dedicated and performing Comptroller of Customs, thank you for the ease of doing business and commitment of the welfare of the Customs members, I watch your presentation many times, again and again. Nigeria will continue to remember you, your legacy, commitment and patriotism,” President Tinubu said.

The event also featured the launch of additional infrastructure projects including Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ new office, which the President described as evidence of the administration’s commitment to delivering impactful development across sectors.
