NIMASA Boss Reaffirms Commitment to Accountability, Transparency Before Lawmakers

The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to transparency and accountability during its budget defence before the House of Representatives at the National Assembly.

Speaking during the session, the NIMASA boss assured that the agency would continue to uphold prudent financial management, stressing that its budgetary allocations are being strategically deployed in line with national priorities.

He noted that the agency remains focused on strengthening regulatory frameworks, improving maritime safety standards, and promoting indigenous participation in the shipping industry.

According to him, these efforts are geared toward ensuring that public funds translate into tangible outcomes that support the growth and sustainability of Nigeria’s maritime sector.

The Director-General further emphasized that transparency in operations and accountability in expenditure are central to NIMASA’s mandate, particularly as the agency works to enhance confidence among stakeholders and attract greater investment into the maritime domain.

Lawmakers, in turn, underscored the importance of effective oversight and urged the agency to sustain its commitment to delivering measurable results.

The budget defence engagement is part of ongoing efforts to reinforce collaboration between NIMASA and the National Assembly, as both institutions work toward advancing Nigeria’s blue economy and strengthening governance within the maritime sector.
