DC Miko Takes Charge at PTML Command, Pledges Integrity-Driven Trade Facilitation 

…As Anani Records ₦181bn Revenue Milestone

Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC), Nura Miko, has formally assumed duty as Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Port & Terminal Multi-services Limited (PTML) Area Command, on Monday, 25 May 2026, pledging a renewed commitment to integrity, due process, and efficient trade facilitation in port operations.

Addressing officers and stakeholders shortly after taking over, DC Miko said that his leadership would be built on collaboration rather than fear.

“I am here to work with you, not merely to lead you. Integrity will be non-negotiable; trade facilitation will remain our priority, due process will be strictly respected, teamwork will be our greatest strength, results will be achieved through collaboration, not fear. Together, we will take this command to greater heights,” he stated.

Miko described PTML Command as a well-structured and highly functional formation, noting that he would consolidate on the gains already achieved while deepening reforms aimed at strengthening compliance, transparency, and efficiency in cargo clearance processes.

He further called for stronger inter-agency cooperation, stressing that effective port management depends on synergy among sister agencies and stakeholders, particularly in advancing trade facilitation, revenue generation, and national security objectives.

In his valedictory remarks, outgoing Customs Area Controller, Comptroller of Customs, Joe Anani who handed over a record of ₦181 billion revenue collection, described his eight-month stewardship as a period of consolidation, stating he inherited and strengthened ongoing reforms initiated under the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), codenamed B’Odogwu, which modernised operations at the Command.

“When I first walked into this role, I carried a clear mandate to steer this command through it’s modernisation transition stage to a more stable state. I came and with the support of my fellow officers, sister agencies and stakeholders, we took it to the next level,” Anani said.

He further recalled operational milestones such as the achievement of one-hour clearance for compliant vehicle imports and improved stakeholder confidence in port processes.

The gathering also featured the presentation of gifts and goodwill messages from officers, stakeholders, and members of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), who celebrated Comptroller Anani’s leadership and contributions to the Command’s outstanding performance.
