Customs Makes Foreign Currency Declaration Process Easy
.The foreign currency declaration process can be done by scanning the online QR Code provided or visit the Agency’s Electronic Declaration Portal using the URL cdf.nigeriatradehub.gov.ng.
As part of efforts to leverage technology to enhance transparency and improve compliance in line with international best practices in anti-money laundering protocols, the Nigeria Customs Service has made foreign currency declaration process easy and faster.
The Service’s Public Relations Unit, in an animation designed on ‘Everything you need to know about currency declaration’ on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, enjoined intending cross-border travellers to complete their declaration anywhere, anytime by scanning online QR Code provided or visit the Agency’s Electronic Declaration Portal using the URL cdf.nigeriatradehub.gov.ng.
“Intending travellers arriving or departing Nigeria with currency or negotiable instruments exceeding $10,000 or its equivalent can now conveniently fulfill the statutory obligations by declaring their currency online anywhere, anytime,” it says.
This development is part of the Service’s commitment to expand the Electronic Currency Declaration Form (E-CDF) deployment to all international airports and border posts nationwide, and also a resolve to tighten border controls and enhance transparency.
Recall that the Agency had launched the E-CDF system in 9 April 2025 with a pilot deployment at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in May 2025, to allow all international travellers declare inbound and outbound currency digitally.

Travellers can now make use of the official URL cdf.nigeriatradehub.gov.ng or scan the online URL Code provided, the Unit had said.
“The declaration process is free of charge and attracts no duty. Upon completion, travellers can proceed with their travel documents to the designated currency declaration desk at any airport, Seaport, or land border point”.
However, it stressed that the online declarations remain pending until validated by a designated Customs Officer.
The Agency further urged travellers to always declare correctly, and travel conveniently.
Currency declaration designated posts in Nigeria are specialised locations established by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at all entry and exit points to manage the mandatory reporting of foreign currency or negotiable instruments exceeding $10,000 (or its equivalent) including: International Airports, Seaports, and Land Borders.
