Comptroller Anani Intensifies Security Collaboration with Ports Authority Police

The Customs Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), TinCan Island Port Command, TCIPC, Comptroller Joe Anani has intensified efforts to strengthen inter- agency security collaboration with sister agencies operating within his jurisdiction.

As part of the renewed drive, the Area Controller on Friday, 5 June 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja, at the Command Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos.

The visit was aimed at fostering stronger inter-agency collaboration and deepening the existing synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force in safeguarding the nation’s maritime domain and facilitating seamless legitimate trade at the Ports.

Speaking during the visit, Comptroller Anani commended the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command for its unwavering commitment to maintaining security and public order within the port environment.

He emphasised the importance of sustained cooperation among security and regulatory agencies in addressing emerging challenges and ensuring the smooth operation of Port activities.

In her remarks, the Commissioner of Police welcomed the TinCan Customs Area Controller to the Command and congratulated him on his new role.

She reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working closely with the Nigeria Customs Service and other stakeholders to strengthen security architecture across the nation’s seaports.

The Commissioner noted that effective collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint drills remain critical to combating criminal activities within the maritime sector and safeguarding critical national assets.

Both leaders pledged to deepen the existing partnership between their respective agencies in pursuit of a secure, efficient, and globally competitive maritime ecosystem.
