The Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Port and Terminal Multi service Limited, PTML Chapter, on Thursday, 18 June 2026, witnessed a seamless leadership transition as Hajiya Nabila Nura Miko took over from the outgoing Acting Chairperson, Mrs. Ifeoluwa Anani, during a handover ceremony held at the PTML Customs Command.

In her inaugural speech, the new Chairperson, Hajiya Nabila Miko accepted the leadership role with deep humility and a strong sense of responsibility.

She expressed profound gratitude to the COWA National President, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, whose guidance and sterling leadership qualities, continued to serve as a beacon of empowerment, welfare, and service for COWA members nationwide.

Hajia Nabila equally commended her predecessor for the solid foundation laid during her tenure, one whose impact, she observed, is visible across all Chapter programmes.

According to her, the programmes include: the International Women’s Day Celebration, the “COWA Healthy Wife, Wealthy Life” Sensitization Workshop, Breast Cancer Awareness Programme, End of Year Outreach, participation in the Green Border Initiative School Adoption, and an Environmental Sensitization Lecture.

The new chairperson also outlined three priority areas for her administration in line with the National Headquarters’ agenda: Welfare, focused on strengthening support systems for officers’ wives particularly during challenging times; Empowerment, through the expansion of skills acquisition and financial independence programmes; and Community Service, aimed at deepening COWA’s impact in health, education, and environmental initiatives.

She called on every member, the Command Management, and all stakeholders to lend their cooperation, prayers, and support, expressing confidence that together, the Chapter would be moved to greater heights.

Addressing the gathering, the Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller N.I. Miko, described the ceremony as a celebration of continuity, service and commitment.

He commended the outgoing leadership for its contributions and paid tribute to COWA members for their role in supporting officers through stable family structures.

“While officers are engaged in revenue collection, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling operations, their wives play a critical role in maintaining stable homes that enable effective service delivery,” DC Miko said.

The PTML Command’s Boss congratulated the new Chairperson and expressed confidence in her ability to build on the achievements of the previous administration. He also pledged the Command’s continued support for the association through logistics, facilities and moral backing.

He further acknowledged the leadership of the COWA National President, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, noting that her vision continues to positively influence the association across Customs formations nationwide.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Chapter Secretary, Mrs. Tosin Adekunle, warmly received all guests on behalf of COWA PTML Chapter and expressed appreciation for their presence and support.

Also speaking on behalf of the outgone Acting Chairperson, Mrs. Anyi Akhigbe, the Vice Chairperson of the association conveyed Mrs. Anani’s gratitude to God and appreciation to the Command Management and members for their cooperation throughout her tenure.

She expressed confidence in the new leadership and pledged continued support for the incoming administration.

“I pray for wisdom and grace for her as she leads us to greater heights,” Mrs Akhigbe stated.

The ceremony, which was also attended by sectional heads, officers and men of the Command, COWA members, and invited guests concluded with goodwill messages and congratulations to Hajiya Nabila Nura Miko as she begins her tenure as Chairperson of the COWA PTML Chapter.
