Veteran registered Customs Agent, Prince Olu Ologbese, fondly called Alaye Baba, has lauded the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Port Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba and his men, for setting a new daily revenue record of N28.102bn on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.
During a chat with our Correspondent on Monday, Alaye stated that the milestone was achieved amidst reforms, integrity and high discipline which has continued to reshape the Command’s operations.
He recalled how the Command first hit a daily revenue record of N20.1bn exactly 24hrs after Comptroller Oshoba assumed office as the Area Controller of Apapa Port Command, commending his level of prowess and expertise.
Pa Ologbese who is in his late 80s noted that since assuming office, Comptroller Oshoba has channeled his efforts into surpassing the revenue records he met on ground.
“Since the deployment of Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba from the headquarters, Abuja, he has been busy with his men to beat the record he met at hand. However, achieving this is not magic. It depends on high discipline and commitment and that is why I am commending him and his men for generating a revenue that surpassed what they met,” Alaye said.
To him, the success story will not be completed without mentioning selected members of the Compliance Unit headed by Mohammed, as “their efforts has been tremendous all along,” he stated.
Speaking further, the veteran agent likened Comptroller Oshoba’s style to the Command’s former Area Controller, another fiscal wizard in the Service now Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of the Post Clearance Audit, Headquarters in Abuja, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu.
He stressed that the duo shared same traits and are good friends. “The former Controller of Apapa, now ACG, Comptroller BO Olomu and the incumbent one are close friends. No wonder the feat was feasible. They have many things in common, discipline to the core, attended the same University and are enlisted into the Customs Service the same day. One will not be surprised at the wonderful performance of Oshoba, we hope he continue his good work,” Alaye said.
Recall that when Apapa Area Command, set the new single-day revenue record of N28.1bn, Comptroller Oshoba said the milestone was beyond revenue figure as it contributed vividly to national development.
In a statement issued and signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer CSC Isah Suleiman, Comptroller Oshoba had dedicated the achievement to the government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the Service’s Management for their continued support for modernisation, automation and reforms aimed at improving Customs operations.
He also acknowledged the cooperation of compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders, as well as Nigerians who provide actionable intelligence.
To him, “Every compliant transaction contributes to national development. I urge stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade. A stronger revenue base gives government greater capacity to respond to the needs of citizens and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive”.
The Area Controller also charged officers and men of the Command not to relent, but to regard the new record as a responsibility to improve their performance and sustain the momentum.
