MARAN Elects Onigbinde as New President

Oluyinka Onigbinde, Assistant Editor of Shipping Position Daily, has emerged the newly-elected President of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), following a keenly-contested elective congress.

Onigbinde polled 20 votes while veteran maritime journalist, Reverend John Iwori polled 13 votes out of a total of 33 cast.

The election also produced other unopposed executives who will pilot the affairs of the association alongside Yinka Onigbinde during his tenure.

They include: Vice President Obasi Sylvanus, General Secretary Fabian Onawo, Assistant General Secretary Ojelabi Amina and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Providence Ayanfeoluwa.

Others are Treasurer Ruth Umuna and Financial Secretary Ambrose Okehi.

The newly elected executives are expected to promote professionalism, welfare, and unity among members while steering the affairs of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN).
