The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has commenced the CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi Football Tournament, with the opening ceremony held on Friday, 1 May 2026, at the Polytechnic of Ibadan football field.

According to a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs 1, Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola, the tournament brought together teams from sister security agencies across Oyo State, in a move designed to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, foster unity, and promote physical fitness among personnel.

In the opening fixture, the Nigeria Customs Service Football Club faced off against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Football Club in a tightly contested match.

The encounter, the statement reads, ended in a goalless draw, setting a competitive tone for the tournament.

The competition is scheduled to run from 1st to 19th May 2026, with participating teams expected to battle for honours in an atmosphere of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to more initiatives that enhance cooperation among security agencies while also prioritising the welfare and well-being of its personnel.
