Comptroller Abubakar Attributes 2025 Successes to Officers’ Teamwork, Discipline and Professionalism

The Customs Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Lagos Free Trade Zone Command, Comptroller Hauwa Abubakar has attributed the Command’s successes for the year 2025 to its Officers’ teamwork, discipline and professionalism.

Comptroller Abubakar made this known on Thursday, 18 December 2025, during the Command’s end-of-year celebration, noting the year was a productive and fulfilling one for the LFTZ Command.

While appreciating God for His mercy and guidance throughout the year, the Area Controller commended Officers, Men and key Stakeholders of the Command for their dedication and support.

“The year 2025 has been a remarkable one for the Lagos Free Trade Zone Command. Through collective effort and commitment to duty, the Command has continued to strengthen its position as one of the most strategic commands in the Nigeria Customs Service,” She said, “Our achievements are a direct reflection of effective leadership, committed officers and productive partnerships with stakeholders”.

She lauded Officers in and Men of the Command for their resilience and professionalism in revenue generation, trade facilitation, compliance monitoring and stakeholder engagement, adding that their conduct had enhanced the image and performance of the Service.

Regarding revenue performance, the Area Controller reported that the Command generated ₦661,545,608,365 between January and November 2025, representing a significant improvement over the previous year.

“The achievement reflects enhanced compliance levels, improved operational efficiency and strengthened collaboration with Free Zone operators and Lekki Port stakeholders. We remain confident that by the end of 2025, the Command will record more than double the revenue achieved in 2024,” she stated.

Comptroller Abubakar reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining professionalism, transparency and efficiency in customs administration, while urging officers and stakeholders to maintain the spirit of cooperation that has driven the Command’s achievements in 2025.

The event concluded with the presentation of awards of appreciation to outstanding officers, Tereseg Bonded Terminal, the first bonded terminal under the Command, as well as key stakeholders within the Free Zones and Lekki Port.
