Oyo/Osun Customs: Comptroller Aliyu Strengthens Inter-Agency Collaboration with Courtesy Visit to NDLEA

The Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu has been making waves since he took over helms of leadership, with a proactive approach to strengthening inter-agency collaboration.

He has been paying courtesy visit to key security agencies including Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Police Force, Nigeria Correctional Service, and EFCC. These visits aimed at deepening existing partnership to enhance national security, operational efficiency and build a safer environment for all Nigerians.

The most recent, was his visit to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command, on Friday 7 November 2025, where he reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to inter-agency collaboration.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs 1 Abiodun Akintola, Comptroller Aliyu expressed profound gratitude to the NDLEA for the warm reception accorded his delegation, noting that the visit was aimed at further strengthening the long-standing relationship between both agencies.

“Our visit today is to further strengthen the existing relationship between the NDLEA and the Nigeria Customs Service a partnership that has existed for many years and continued to contribute significantly to national security and public safety,” he said.

The Customs Area Controller commended the NDLEA for its relentless efforts in combating drug trafficking and curbing substance abuse among Nigerian youths.

He noted that the Agency’s sustained operations and public enlightenment campaigns have gone a long way in mitigating the negative impact of drug use, which often leads young people into various forms of criminal activities.

Comptroller Aliyu also emphasised the importance of continuous cooperation and intelligence sharing between the two agencies, especially in the areas of border management and the interception of illicit substances.

He reiterated that the Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, remains committed to fostering effective inter-agency collaboration as a vital tool in ensuring the nation’s safety and prosperity.

“The Oyo/Osun Area Command remains open to every form of partnership that promotes national security. Together, we can enhance operational efficiency and build a safer environment for all Nigerians,” Comptroller Aliyu added.

The visit further underscored the mutual respect and cooperation between the Nigeria Customs Service and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in their shared mission of protecting the nation’s borders and safeguarding the wellbeing of citizens.
