Oyo/Osun Customs Fosters Inter-Agency Collaboration for Enhanced National Security

As part of continued efforts to foster interagency collaboration, the Customs Area Controller of Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu, has again paid courtesy visits to three sister agencies: the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

This is contained in a statement signed by the Command’s PRO, Assistant Superintendent of Customs 1, Abdulmalik Abiodun on 1 October 2025.

During the Area Controller’s visit to the Nigeria Correctional Service on Tuesday, 30th September 2025, Comptroller Aliyu described the Service as a strategic partner in Nigeria’s security architecture, saddled with the critical mandate of reforming, rehabilitating, and reintegrating offenders into society.

He noted that the Nigeria Correctional Service has made invaluable contributions to peace, stability, and socio-economic growth in the country.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration to tackle crime, smuggling, and other threats to national security.

Similarly, at the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Controller lauded the agency’s role as a frontline institution in safeguarding the nation’s borders.

He commended their unwavering professionalism and dedication in regulating migration, which he described as essential to national security, migration management, and socio-economic stability.

Comptroller Aliyu reaffirmed that the NIS remains a vital partner in curbing trans-border crimes and protecting the nation against illegal activities inimical to Nigeria’s growth and development.

While addressing the Senior Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Controller acknowledged the agency as a reliable partner in safeguarding critical infrastructure, protecting lives and property, and maintaining internal security.

He praised the NSCDC’s contributions in combating smuggling, vandalism, and other cross-border crimes, noting that their efforts have consistently complemented those of the Nigeria Customs Service.

To him, the visit was aimed at deepening the existing synergy for even more effective collaboration in the future.

He emphasized that stronger partnerships among security institutions remain a vital step toward tackling common challenges and safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty.

Comptroller Aliyu concluded by affirming that the Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command, remains fully committed to working hand in hand with all sister agencies to enhance national security, promote socio-economic development, and protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
