PTML Customs Command Generates N204.7 Billion in H1 2025

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port and Terminal Multiservice Limited, PTML, said it generated two hundred and four billion, seven hundred and twenty-five million, six hundred and thirty-four thousand, four hundred and fifty-nine naira and fifty-five kobo only (N204,725,634,459.55) in the first half of 2025, representing 34.1% increase over the one hundred and fifty-two billion, six hundred and forty-eight million, five hundred and seventeen thousand, five hundred and thirty-two naira and five kobo only (N152,648,517,532.05) collected the same period in 2024.

Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Tenny Daniyan made this known at a short briefing held in the Command on Wednesday, 16 July 2025, attributing the success recorded to the collaborative efforts sustained with relevant agencies in the industry.

He stated that the collection is fifty-two billion, seventy-seven million, one hundred and sixteen thousand, nine hundred and twenty-seven naira and fifty kobo only (N52,077,116,927.50) higher than the figure collected for the same period in 2024.

“This is an appreciable collection of duty which is quite higher than the previous year,” he said.

He noted that the Command recorded impressive figures of N283.8 billion under the B’Odogwu platform.

According to him, “Since the roll out of B’Odogwu software in November 2024, there has been improvements after its initial teething challenges. A total collection of two hundred and eighty-three billion, eight hundred and ninety million, seven hundred and ninety-one thousand, three hundred and fifteen naira and fifty kobo only (N283,890,791,315.50) was made”.

On number of vessels that berthed in the first half of year 2025, the Area Controller told journalists that 52 vessels were received between January and June 2025, while total number of containers received are 13,431 and total assessment made is 30,400.

While commending the dividends of strategic collaboration with relevant agencies, the Command’s helmsman credited the strategic reforms introduced by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MRF, particularly the homegrown software, B’Odogwu platform which has brought landmark achievements to the entire Service.

He also credited his officers for the feats recorded, emphasising their diligence and capacity in the discharge of their duty.

He said, “I will give the credit to officers for being very, very articulate in what they do. Every unit, whether you’re in Post Clearance Audit, PCA, whether you’re in CIU, whether you’re in enforcement, or in the normal, the sections, the units, they all put in their best to achieve what you have here. Considering the fact that Nigeria is quite tight now, it’s not easy for people to pay their bills. And we collect this revenue, we have to give ourselves kudos.

“With the coming of B’Odogwu, we are not only generating revenue into the government coffers, we are also saving it. That is another component. We are saving government from harden foreign exchange that would have gone to a foreign partner. Now it is domiciled in Nigeria, our people, you and I, are the ones doing B’Odogwu”.

On strategic partnership with stakeholders, Comptroller Daniyan revealed that the Command has intensified existing stakeholders engagement through intensive training sessions for officers and Customs Agents.

To him, “Due to the peculiar nature of our command as the area for pilot phase roll out for B’Odogwu, in line with directives from CGC, we intensified our existing stakeholders engagement through intensive training sessions for officers and customs agents

“The practical hands-on sessions have paid off as most of our stakeholders are knowledgeable about the system and its workings.These training sessions are in batches and still ongoing to ensure everyone is carried along”.
