Oyo/Osun Customs Records N99.4bn Revenue in 2025, Seizes Contraband Worth N2.7bn in One Month

Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Thursday, 29 January 2026, announced a significant feat in both anti- smuggling operations and Revenue mandate, intercepting N2.7 billion worth of illicit items in one month and generating N99.4bn in 2025.

The Acting Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Wale Moses Adewole made the announcement during his maiden press briefing for 2026 at the Command’s Headquarters, Ibadan.

He informed that the Command surpassed its 2025 revenue target of ₦86,297,581,081.00k (Eighty-Six Billion, Two Hundred and Ninety-Seven Million, Five Hundred and Eighty-One Thousand, Eighty-One Naira Only) by ₦13,135,424,793.29k (Thirteen Billion, One Hundred and Thirty-Five Million, Four Hundred and Twenty-Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and Ninety-Three Naira, Twenty-Nine Kobo), generating N99,433,005,874.29 into government coffer.

 

This shows a 15.22% increase in the year 2025 revenue target, reflecting improved compliance, effective monitoring, and the commitment of officers to lawful trade facilitation.

On enforcement, the Command made significant seizures worth Two Billion, Seven Hundred and One Million, Seven hundred and Sixty-Two Thousand, Five Hundred and Fifty-Eight Naira Only (₦2,701,762,558.00k) in one month.

The acting Area Controller noted that the seizures were made at various flashpoints across the Command’s Area of Responsibility through credible intelligence, sustained patrols, and strategic enforcement operations.

He also stressed that the feat underscored the Command’s commitment to the Service’s mandate of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, and protection of the national economy.

DC Adewole further restated that under his watch, Oyo/Osun Area Command will remain committed in its zero-tolerance against smuggling and other forms of economic disruption.

“We will continue to collaborate with sister security agencies and engage stakeholders to achieve our shared objective of national economic security. I also wish to caution smugglers and unpatriotic elements to desist from illegal activities, as the Command will not relent in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities”.

The DC appreciated the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for his leadership, and the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Abiodun Makinde for his unwavering support towards achieving the Command’s set goals.

While extending gratitude to the stakeholders for their compliance and stance in ensuring Oyo/Osun Customs achieve set objectives, the acting Controller recognised the newsmen for their timely dissemination of information to the general public.

Some of the seized items were thereafter handed over to representatives of National Center for Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) for further investigation.
