Oyo/Osun Customs Bolsters Existing Collaboration with International Breweries to Boost Trade Facilitation

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, has strengthened existing collaboration with International Breweries Plc to boost revenue generation and curtail smuggling activities.

This development followed a courtesy visit by a delegation from International Breweries Plc, to the Operational Headquarters of the Command on Thursday, 5 February 2026.

According to a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, ASC I Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola for Acting Customs Area Controller, the visit is part of the delegation’s ongoing efforts to reinforce existing collaboration between the excise factory and the Service.

Receiving the team, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC) Wale Moses Adewole, expressed profound appreciation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of the company’s dedication to institutional cooperation.

He acknowledged International Breweries Plc as a critical stakeholder of the Nigeria Customs Service, commending the organisation for its consistent compliance with the provisions of the NCS Act governing excise operations.

DC Adewole stressed the need for sustained synergy between the Service and excise factories, noting that such collaboration remains pivotal to achieving the core mandates of the Service, particularly in the areas of trade facilitation, regulatory compliance, and revenue generation.

He further solicited the company’s continued support and cooperation similar to that enjoyed by his predecessors and assured the delegation of the Command’s unwavering commitment to providing a conducive operational environment that promotes transparency, efficiency, and mutual growth.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Operational Manager of International Breweries Plc, Ilesha, Mr. Emmanuel Onabanjo, expressed gratitude to the Acting Customs Area Controller and the Command’s principal officers for the warm reception accorded to him and his team.

He reaffirmed the factory’s commitment to maintaining a strong and productive relationship with the Service and pledged continuous cooperation in all statutory requirements.

Mr. Onabanjo also assured the Command of the company’s readiness to provide timely information and necessary assistance to officers deployed to the facility to support the effective discharge of their responsibilities.

The visit underscores the Nigeria Customs Service’s stakeholder engagement strategy, aimed at fostering voluntary compliance, strengthening public-private partnerships, and promoting seamless excise administration.
