Nigeria Customs, Army Strengthen Bilateral Relationship with Beninese Customs on Border Security

As part of effort to enhance safety of lives, properties, and government assets along Maje border corridor, the Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigerian Army have forged strategic partnership with Beninese Customs.

This development followed a courtesy visit of a delegation led by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, alongside Major Shola Elijah Moses, Commanding Officer 1 Battalion, Nigerian Army to Tsamiya/Segbana on Wednesday, 12th November 2025.

The duo were warmly received by Officers of the Beninese Customs and other Stakeholders.

Speaking during their engagement, Comptroller Ibrahim stressed the the importance of engaging in bilateral cooperation to effectively secure the shared border and enhance mutual trust.

He noted that security is a collective responsibility, stressing that his visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation and promoting intelligence sharing for improved border management.

In his response, the Comptroller of Customs, Wara Border, Benin Republic, Arouna Dramane, commended the delegation for their visit, describing it as a welcome development.

Comptroller Wara walked the delegation round Beninese facilities for familiarization and assured continued collaboration.

The visit concluded with a goodwill message and reassurance that both organisations will continue to work together to achieving peace and security along the Nigeria–Benin border.
