Comptroller Gambo Aliyu Visits Olubadan of Ibadan, Reaffirms Commitment to Stakeholder Engagement

The Customs Area Controller of Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu, has reaffirmed the commitment to stronger Stakeholder engagement during a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja on Sunday 7, December 2025.

According to a press statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Customs 1, Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola for the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Aliyu expressed deep appreciation for the warm hospitality received from the Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadan land, and the invaluable support accorded to the Command by Ibadan indigenes.

Aliyu noted that the visit aims to strengthening the longstanding partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service and the revered traditional institution.

He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to its statutory responsibilities of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling operations, describing Ibadan and its environs as a major commercial hub where both economic opportunities and national security concerns are paramount.

“The Nigeria Customs Service recognises the vital role traditional rulers play in sustaining peace, order, and community cooperation. We believe that with your continued support and guidance, our Command will remain effective in safeguarding Nigeria’s economic interests,” he stated.

Aliyu urged the Imperial Majesty, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja to continue to sensitise the youth and business community against smuggling and other illegal activities that may undermine the nation’s economic growth.

Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu assured that officers and men of the Command would remain respectful, professional and responsive to the cultural values of host communities in the discharge of their duties.

The Customs Area Controller further acknowledged the existing cooperation between the Command and the Palace of the Olubadan, stressing how the relationship has contributed positively to the success of the Command’s operations in the region.

He called for sustained collaboration to combat evolving smuggling tactics and maintain a secure environment conducive to legitimate trade.

In a remark, the Olubadan acknowledged the visit of the Customs Area Controller urged the Service to make safety of the nation’s border a paramount by protecting the country from the economic saboteurs.

The visit concluded with the Customs Area Controller seeking the blessings and prayers of the Olubadan for continuous wisdom, strength and protection as the Command works tirelessly to serve the nation and remains committed to enhancing stakeholders’ engagement and promoting economic development for the benefit of Nigeria.
