Comptroller Adelaja visits NSCDC Ibadan to Strengthen Security Partnership

Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Joseph Olugbuyi Adelaja, and his delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Headquarters in Ibadan to strengthen security partnership.

According to a statement signed by the Command’s Spokesman, ASC Abdul Malik Abiodun Akintola on Tuesday, the visit aimed to strengthen the existing collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the NSCDC.

Comptroller Adelaja praised the NSCDC’s dedication to safeguarding national assets, ensuring public safety, and maintaining peace and security.

He emphasized on the common goal shared by both agencies to protect the nation’s interests and ensure citizens’ safety.

The Area Controller outlined the Service core functions, including revenue generation, facilitation of legitimate trade, and suppression of smuggling, acknowledging the importance of combined efforts in achieving optimal security and promoting lawful trade.

In response, the NSCDC State Commandant, Mr. Augustine Ayodeji Padonu, appreciated the Area Controller and his delegation for the visit and reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to a cordial relationship with the NCS.

He also emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing, operational consolidation, and public sensitization in enhancing their duties.

The State Commandant further stressed the need to sensitize the junior rank officers of both agencies regarding unhealthy rivalry and educate them on the common goals shared which requires mutual collaboration to achieve.

The meeting concluded with Comptroller Adelaja extending his gratitude to the NSCDC Commandant and management team for their warm reception.

This courtesy visit marks a significant step towards strengthening the collaboration between the NCS and NSCDC in achieving their shared goals.
