B’Odogwu System Hits Over 5,000 Bills of Lading Milestone

The Unified Customs Management System UCMS codenamed B’Odogwu has achieved a significant milestone with over 5,000 Bills of Lading.
This show the system’s effectiveness in streamlining Customs processes, enhancing efficiency and promoting transparency.
At a recent Stakeholders’ Town Hall on B’Odogwu Clearance platform in Lagos, Assistant Comptroller of Customs Abass Oladepo and BO Omoniyi provided an overview of the indigenous platform.
They highlighted that the system’s integration of over 50 shipping lines and terminal operators enables it to receive over 5,000 Bills of Lading directly through the Service’s centralized manifest, thus facilitating real-time selectivity.
According to Oladepo and Omoniyi, B’Odogwu system is an interoperability which supports API generated integration with relevant stakeholders such as Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Joint Task Force among others.
To them, the homegrown software is an ecosystem that brings together Customs, Banks, Terminal Operators, Shipping lines, all regulators into one trade platform.

“From the operational viewpoint, B’Odogwu offers situation for which traders can actively track their transaction and stay informed throughout the transaction.
“The introduction of traders to B’Odogwu was a solution which actually brought us here today and validation of B’Odogwu application from the comfort of our home has really been a game-changer.
“Unlike previously, where trader had to go through the heat of Form M processing from the beginning to the end.
“Traders provided their register on B’Odogwu platform and had all the necessary documents and provisions. This ensured that we monitored all activities carried out during the process,” they asserted.
The introduction of B’Odogwu has been a game-changer for traders, who can now register and arrange data on the platform, upload necessary documents, and track their transactions in real-time, thus eliminating the need for manual processing of Form M and other clearances, making the process more efficient and convenient for traders.
With over 32,000 traders already on board as informed by the two Officers, B’Odogwu is fast revolutionising the way trade should be conducted in Nigeria.
